لاحظ الفرق بين الكلمات الآتية
Extra – Excess

Extra – Excess
Extra = إضافي (زائد عن الطبيعي أو المعتاد)
''He suffers from extra weight."
Excess = زائد (عن المسموح به قانوناً)
He paid a fine for the excess weight.

Historic – Historical
Historic = تاريخي (يمثل جزء من التاريخ نفسه)
Historic manuscripts = مخطوطات أثرية
Historical = تاريخي (ولكنه ليس جزء من التاريخ)
Historical film = فيلم تاريخي
Historical events – Historic event ولكن لاحظ :-

Electric – Electrical
Electric =كهربي (يعمل بالطاقة الكهربية أي يحول الطاقة الكهربية إلى صورة أخرى)
Electric iron / fan مكواة / مروحة كهربية
Electrical = كهربائي (ولكن لا يعمل بالكهرباء)
Electrical = engineering / storm مهندس كهربائى– عاصفة كهربية

Economic – Economical
Economic = اقتصادي (جزء من الاقتصاد)
Economic industry / crises أزمة اقتصادية – صناعة اقتصادية
Economical = اقتصادي (موفر)
Economical electric bulb مصباح كهربائي موفر
Economical method of preparing food طريقة اقتصادية لإعداد الطعام

Economy – Economics
Economy = الاقتصاد (نفسه) أي حركة البيع والشراء والاستثمار والتصدير والاستيراد
Economics = علم الاقتصاد

Event – Occurrence
Event = حدث هام ولا يتكرر
Occurrence = حدث هام ولكنه يتكرر

Location – Position
Location = موقع ثابت (موقع عمارة / دولة / ..................)
The location of the flat is very well.
Position = وضع الشيء بالنسبة للأشياء الأخرى (قابل للتغيير)
The goal keeper was in a good position so he could repulse the football. (repulse  يصد )

Sensitive – Sensible
Sensitive = حساس (سريع التأثير عاطفياً) – لديه إحساس بالآخرين
We should be sensitive towards the others and not annoy them.
Sensible = عاقل / معقول / مناسب
He took a sensible decision when he stopped interfering with the others affairs.

Impressive – Effective
Impressive = مؤثر (مبهر) يترك أثراً أو انطباعاً قوياً لدى الآخرين
Her success was very impressive.
Effective = مؤثر (فعال) يتسبب في التغيير أو يساعد على الإنجاز بشكل واضح
He took a very effective medicine which helped him very much.

Style – Technique
Style = الشكل الذي يخرج عليه العمل الفني أو الأدبي
I admire the style of Nezat kabbany very much.
Technique = الأسلوب الفني المتبع في عمل شيء فني أو علمي
This machine works according a new technique which I can't understand.

Strict – Neighborhood
Strict = → حي سكني (كبير)
I live in Assuit in El Sadat strict.
Neighborhood = منطقة سكنية (البيوت المجاورة)
Leila likes the familiar sounds in her neighborhood such as the children playing in the street, the man selling melons, ……………………..

Nursing = ممارسة التمريض
Nursery = حضانة

Process – Operation
Process = عملية تتم على عدة مراحل
The education process العملية التعليمية
The photosynthesis processعملية البناء الضوئي
Operation = عملية جراحية – عملية تتم على مرحلة واحدة – عملية إنقاذ
My uncle had an operation last month.

Sting – bite
Sting = لدغة يستخدم فيها السم للقتل
A scorpion stung himعقرب لدغة
Bite = عضة تُستخدم فيها الأنياب
A spider bit him عنكبوت لدغة

Lifelong – Long life
Lifelong = مدى الحياة
Lifelong education is the modern concept of education. (concept مفهوم )
Long life = حياة طويلة
My grandfather lived a long life.

Character – Personality
Character = الشخصية كما تبدو (من الخارج) – الشخصيات في فيلم / مسرحية
All the characters of this film are wonderful.
This man had a smart appearance, good character which helped him to get a good job.
Personality = الشخصية من الداخل
She has a good personality which made everybody likes her.

Conventional – Traditional
Conventional = تقليدي (بعيداً عن ما هو مبهر أو تحية مغامرة أو مخاطرة)
He prefers to lead a conventional life.
Traditional = تقليدي (ليس حديثاً أو معاصراً)
The traditional dress of the British princess looked wonderful.

Tool – Instrument
Tool = آلة يستخدمها الحرفي أو الشخص الذي لا يعتمد عمله على دراسة علمية
A carpenter uses many tools in his work.
Instrument = أداة يستخدمها الشخص الذي يعتمد عمله على الدراسة
A dentist uses many instruments in his work.

Lock – Imprison
Lock = يحبس إنسان / حيوان / طائر
Imprison = يحبس إنساناً فقط

لاحظ :-
Improve = يحسن
Prove = يثبت / يبرهن

Revolve = يدور (حول نفسه)
Revolt = يثور
Evolve = يُطور
Involve = → يتدخل / يتورط

Tape = شريط (كاسيت مثلاً)
Tap = حنفية
Fare = أجرة مواصلات
Fair = عادل / أشقر فاتح

Remedy – cure – treatment
Remedy = علاج لمرض عادي أو عابر
Aspirin is used as a remedy for the flu.
Cure = علاج لمرض مستعصي
The scientists are trying to find a cure for cancer.
Treatment = العلاج الذي يشمل الأدوية المستخدمة والنظام الغذائي المتبع ومجمل الإجراءات الصحيحة
My cousin received a good treatment in the local hospital.

Social – Sociable
Social = اجتماعي (للمناسبات – المؤسسات – الأنشطة)
Social occasion / club / party
Sociable = اجتماعي للناس (بمعنى ودود)
 My brother is a very sociable person.
